Pleasant, up-market village between Ryde and Bembridge, popular for yachting and bathing, although rather rocky. Old prints and photographs show an interesting chain-pier used to exist.

Busy during the summer months, this pleasant unassuming pub is within a short stagger of the popular Puckpool Park, with its Palmerston Folly. One of three shore based establishments on the Island during the last war – this was HMS MEDINA. Now in less hectic times, a good spot for a weekend away from it all, but if only for a Sunday treat, the popular Sunday roast is a must.

Guest in Summer
It may not seem right to rave about a Hotel when it’s the beer that we are tasting, but to this hostelry the two are intertwined. From the moment you walk in through the front or back entrances, you will be taken in by the history of the sea that is all around you. It is hard sometimes to take your eyes long enough away from the walls to remember why you have entered. The public bar is quite small, but during the summer months when the pub really buzzes there is plenty of room to move around the perimeter. The Hotel, well, that’s another story you will have to find out for yourself.
