At the top of the village, behind the White Lion, is this craft centre and pub complex. The pub is part of a local chain which includes the Bargeman’s Rest in Newport, and the Steamer Inn, Shanklin. Like the other pubs in the chain, the Dairyman’s has a very traditional atmosphere, and is full of well-chosen rural bric-a-brac, bare brickwork and flagstone floors; it even sports a bar billiards table (good to see that game making a comeback) and antique slot machines. The joint owner is a musician for one of the local morris teams, and the pub is a frequent venue for traditional dancing and singing. Given all that, you might be surprised to learn that the pub is actually only a few years old! Always a good selection of beers from local breweries, supplemented by a selection from some farther afield. Nearby is the 11th century church of St George, passing the remains of the ancient barn and the original carp pond that supported nearby monks. Who was the Dairyman’s Daughter? Seek out her grave in the churchyard; look for Elizabeth Wallbridge, who died of consumption in 1801 at the age of 31 after many good works, and was made famous by the Reverend Leigh Richmond in “Annals of the Poor”, selling over a million copies in many languages, a colossal amount for its time.

Ancient stone country pub now rebuilt as a large, comfortable, food-led roadhouse. Notwithstanding, the pub sports a good range of beers, the condition of which at the time of survey was found to be very good.

Extensively refurbished and enlarged country pub, eating house, rebuilt sympathetically in the ‘Harvester’ style, featuring the scull of Michael Morey, the last man to be hanged on the Island. There are two bars, with many cosy corners for that intimate evening and an impressive menu with a good value carvery on Sundays. There is a huge car park, adventure playground for the children, with stunning views from the rear patio whilst keeping an eye on their antics.

A lovely old country pub with several drinking areas, still managing to maintain much character and charm despite being totally refurbished with beamed ceilings and lots of wood and bare brick. The pub enjoys a good reputation for both beer and food. It used to share the village with the 'Red Lion' a short way down the road, but that closed many years ago.
