Pleasant 17th century
coaching inn, originally known as the "Halfway Inn" until the adjacent Blacksmiths
forge gained precedence with a name change. This pub is hard to miss when approaching
Cowes, as it stands on the junction at Northwood with traffic lights and a large
garage ahead. There is a large car park, a proper public bar with pool and darts,
and a saloon bar that boasts a well, soon to come is a restaurant extension. Since
the arrival of the present landlord, well known in the area as a sportsman, darts
and pool league player, the pub has extended its range of real ales and during
the summer months will see an ever-changing selection of at least six ales. Expect
to find a menu with a wide range of delicious home cooked food, and a warm welcome
for families.

7 Guest Beers
Offering one of the best choices of cask ales
on the Isle of Wight, this well renovated and extended old country inn, was the
Islands first beer exhibition house. Island Beer drinkers owe much to the Travellers
Joy, and it is deservedly favoured by local CAMRA members, who voted it Branch
Pub of the Year on no less than five occasions. Always at least eight beers on
offer, from national, local, and microbreweries. The garden has a children's play
area and a small pets corner. A good range of home cooked food is available during
the morning and evening sessions.
