Formerly the 'Stag', this has gone through an identity crisis, to be called "Cask and Cucumber" in the silly days of Geoffrey Hartridge, and now back to the easily recognised "Old Stag". There is a cosy games room come "Public" bar feeling where Pool and Darts can be played. The main bar area is now comfortably equipped with a 70 seat conservatory restaurant serving a wide variety of home cooked food, for which the present landlord has quickly built a fine reputation. There is a patio area plus large garden, with views over the River Medina and Medina valley and families are most welcome.

Newport's newest and smallest pub was opened on June 2011 by Mark and Debbie Ridett. The pub is run along traditional lines with all the beers racked up behind the bar on stillage.
Food follows a traditional pub theme with pork pies etc. from Hamiltons and freshly baked bread and rolls from the Scarotts Lane Bakery; also available: cockles, ploughmens, pickled eggs and gurkins. Wines are from Adgestone Vineyard. Already a big hit with local drinkers.

This is an old coaching inn of great antiquity, and was the last island pub to have no bar counter (service was from a corner of the bar), before this interesting feature disappeared with successive refurbishments, although there are still many authentic features such as old beams and flagstones. In recent years it has undergone a major rebuild, which has vastly increased its size. The children's room is actually the old courtyard and the far side of the bar was once the shop next door.

This locally owned massive pub development, is located in what has been an animal feed store, a sail loft and a rigging loft for servicing the commercial barge fleet. The huge bar area has been well designed to provide intimate drinking areas and the nautical memorabilia, décor and ambience are what you would expect from a traditional, well-seasoned pub. The outdoor drinking area is only a few feet from the bustling River Medina. There is entertainment most of the week and beer festivals are held in conjunction with the other three pubs in the group.

Excellent council estate pub, recently refurbished. This was the last pub to be built by W.B.Mew Langton before selling out to Strongs and stands adjacent to the site of a much smaller and older pub of the same name which was demolished along with most of Robin Hood street in the flurry of new building in the late 50's and early 60's. Nowadays, it is a comfortable, welcoming community pub, enjoying a rebirth in popularity after a period of decline.

Excellent, popular and comfortable unspoilt street corner local with pleasant, cosy atmosphere. The interior, probably one of the best on the Island, still retains the original public bar. Its name comes from being the closest to the now demolished Newport Railway Station and the pub contains many old IW railway photographs and artefacts.

An absolute gem of a pub. Delightful back street local of some character, which is a few minutes walk from the centre of Newport. Formerly it was on the outskirts of Newport when Cross Lane was a narrow country byway, lined with terraced cottages. The pub now stands alone among less attractive modern housing, yet still retains the atmosphere of a country local. Recently under enthusiastic new stewardship, there has been an extension added in place of the old snug, but it fits well. The rear garden is delightful, and, like the pub, gives an impression that someone really cares for it. The pub offers many pub games old and new, including pool, bar billiards, darts, shove'apenny, bar skittles and petanque. The pub doesn't have a huge real ale trade, but if none is available, there's a good selection of interesting bottled beers at a very reasonable price, or genuine German lagers (dark and light), and weissebier, all on keg, of course.

Large, noisy High Street Pub at the lower end of town, with many sports TVs, and popular with younger people, particularly in the evening, though the clientele is quite varied. Nonetheless , it has a good and manageable range of beers, which appear to be well kept and very reasonably priced.

Conveniently placed at the top end of the town with rear entrance to large public car park. If all pub refurbishments could be this good, nobody could complain. It's a traditional but comfortable Town local, with extensive use of natural materials and no ubiquitous chintz. An excellent pub with a warm welcome. Its pool table and sports TV is in one half of the pub, while the lounge is pleasantly quiet, and has an adjoining snug.

17C stone built single bar pub abounding in flagstones and beams, full of character and possibly the oldest pub on the Island - a sign on the outside proclaims it was established in 1684. Large interior divided into discrete drinking areas, with a function room at the back. There are two large fireplaces, but sadly neither contain a fire. It was reputedly the last pub in England with cock fighting and was authorised at one time to conduct marriages. The area of Castlehold in which it stands refers to nearby Carisbrooke Castle and was once the home for every thief, rogue and beggar in Newport and existing outside the law. Parking in the High Street for short stay or two large Public Car Parks within one hundred yards. Unusual in offering two real ciders, one of which is sometimes a perry.

Formerly the Tap to the adjacent but now demolished 'Green Dragon', this excellent mock Tudor single bar street corner local has built a fine reputation for well kept ale. Although in the centre of Town, opposite the Bus Station and Morrisons Supermarket, this is very much a locals Pub and has resisted the temptation to be 'tarted up'. Still retains the feel of the Public Bar. The pub staged its first beer festival in 2011, which was a huge success, and will be repeated. An absolute gem.

Former nightclub, and still acts as one late in the evening - a Lloyds bar in all but name. Large, modern interior, with panelling, big mirrors and subdued colours. The beer range is not as extensive as other Wetherspoons, but beers are usually in good condition.
